Puppy Information

At Iconic Waves Portuguese Water Dogs, our goal is to thoughtfully breed sound, healthy, and well-rounded Portuguese Water Dogs that are true to the breed standard in both structure and temperament.

Our puppies are raised in our home as part of the family and receive daily socialization from the very beginning. We focus on creating confident, adaptable puppies that are prepared to transition smoothly into their new homes, whether that future includes being a beloved companion, performance partner, or active family dog.

Health & Care

Our breeding dogs are health tested per PWDCA guidelines, and we carefully plan each litter with health, temperament, structure, and versatility in mind.

Before going home, puppies will receive:

  • Age-appropriate vaccinations

  • Regular deworming

  • Veterinary health examination

  • Microchip

  • Health records

  • Puppy starter package with familiar items and resources to help with the transition

Puppy Matching

We believe successful placements begin with understanding both the puppy and the family.

For this reason, we do not allow families to simply choose a puppy based on appearance or order of deposit. As puppies grow and their personalities begin to develop, we carefully evaluate temperament, energy level, confidence, drive, and overall suitability.

We work closely with each family and thoughtfully match puppies to their future homes based on lifestyle, goals, and preferences. Our priority is creating lifelong matches that set both the puppy and family up for success.

Registration & Breeding Rights

The primary purpose of our breeding program is to preserve and improve the Portuguese Water Dog through responsible breeding practices. All companion puppies are sold on limited AKC registration with a spay/neuter agreement.

Breeding rights are considered only for approved show and breeding homes that share our commitment to health testing, breed preservation, and ethical breeding practices. Any puppy placed with breeding potential will be offered exclusively on a show and breeding contract with co-ownership.

We do not sell breeding dogs outright. Any dog that leaves our program with full AKC registration will remain co-owned until all contractual obligations have been fulfilled, including required health testing, title requirements, and/or proof of sterilization when applicable.

Our goal is to protect the future of the breed while ensuring every puppy is placed in the home best suited for its individual potential.

Pricing

Puppy Price: $3,000 - $3,500 depending on the litter

A $500 non-refundable deposit is required to reserve a place on our waitlist once approved.

The remaining balance is due at the time of pickup..
